As of September 1, the number of days this year that the yield on the 30-year U.S. Treasury bond has closed above 5% has reached 55, the highest since 2006. In mid-August, the yield briefly rose to 5.34%, the highest level since 2007, just 10 basis points below the highest level in 22 years. In the coming weeks, investors are expected to remain vigilant, influenced by factors such as massive fiscal deficits, a surge in corporate bond issuance, and Federal Reserve meetings. On Tuesday, the yield was reported at 5.27%.
