The 1640th day of the war in Ukraine continues. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there were 238 combat clashes in the past 24 hours. The aggressor launched one missile strike and 87 airstrikes, using 278 guided aerial bombs. Artillery shelling targeted settlements in the Sumy region and the area of Great Chernichina. Over the course of the day, defense forces hit six drone control points and three areas of enemy troop concentration. In the North-Slobozhansk and Kursk directions, three enemy assaults were repelled, while eight attacks occurred in the South-Slobozhansk direction. In the Kupiansk direction, there were 15 enemy offensive actions. In the Lyman direction, the occupiers attacked the settlements of Lyman and Novosergeevka six times. In the Sloviansk direction, 15 assault actions were recorded. In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian invaders carried out two offensive actions. In the Konstantinovka direction, 26 attacks were recorded, and in the Pokrovsk direction, 32. In the Alexandrovsk direction, the occupiers made three attacks. In the Hulyaipole direction, the occupiers attacked the defenders' positions 16 times. In the Orikhiv direction, our defenders thwarted three attempts by the enemy to advance.

U.S. major indexes closed lower yesterday. Walmart’s weaker-than-expected same-store sales and guidance weighed on the consumer sector and dragged the three major averages lower. Silver and platinum rose sharply, supported by lower yields from expanded long-bond buybacks and a softer dollar. Bitcoin climbed toward $75,000, lifting crypto-related equities. Markets are now focused on the August S&P Global Manufacturing and Services PMI flash readings due on August 21 U.S. Eastern Time, which will directly influence September rate-path pricing.
