Bitcoin Price Prediction of $300,000 Raises Quantum Security Debate
The forecast for Bitcoin (BTC) to reach $300,000 (approximately 414.9 million KRW) has been mentioned again alongside the debate on quantum computing security. Bernstein predicts that it will reach $150,000 by mid-2027 and approximately $300,000 at the peak of the 2029 cycle. This is based on factors such as spot ETFs, institutional demand, regulatory environment, and concerns about monetary expansion and dollar value dilution. Charles Edwards claims that quantum risk is currently reflected as a discount factor of about 30% on BTC's value, and it would be positive if the Bitcoin Core team presents a roadmap within 2-3 months. Quantum risk is related to Bitcoin's signature system, where addresses with exposed public keys could be targets of quantum computer attacks. Bitcoin Improvement Proposals BIP-360 and BIP-361 suggest countermeasures against quantum attacks, but actual network transition requires consensus between developers and users. Reuters reported that due to BTC's 17-year trading history, many public keys have been exposed, estimating that the rate of exposure to quantum attacks could be as high as 50%. Ethereum (ETH) has also mentioned the threat of quantum computing, proposing 2029 as the target date for a post-quantum protection system. So far, what has been confirmed is Bernstein's long-term price forecast, Edwards' call for a roadmap, and the existence of drafts for BIP-360 and BIP-361.
