Circle plans to open the public mainnet of its Layer 1 blockchain, Arc, on September 16, 2026, and will operate the network under a founding validator system. Arc is currently in an unofficial mainnet phase, with over 100 ecosystem and institutional builders engaged in integration work and real use case testing. Founding validators include Circle, BlackRock, DTCC, Galaxy, Global Payments, ICE, Mastercard, MoneyGram, SBI Group, Standard Chartered, and Visa. Arc describes its initial validator model, with about 20 permissioned validators operating in a controlled environment. The public mainnet will be a stage accessible to all users and applications, with a validator structure that differs from typical permissionless proof-of-stake networks, utilizing a permissioned proof-of-authority approach. Arc is designed to pay network fees in USD Coin, presenting predictable fees, transaction confirmations in under one second, and a payment infrastructure for foreign exchange and stablecoins as key features. Circle plans to launch an app framework for on-chain workflows, AI tools, and tokenized real asset management capabilities. The public mainnet schedule will serve as a benchmark for the actual impact of Uniswap infrastructure.
