Coinbase has announced the acquisition of the prediction market startup company The Clearing Company
BlockBeats News, December 22nd, according to official sources, Coinbase has signed an agreement to acquire the prediction market startup The Clearing Company.
The official statement indicates that the company is innovative in the regulated on-chain market frontier. The team's deep professional expertise will help Coinbase develop and expand its prediction market business, accelerating Coinbase's strategic process of building a "one-stop trading platform."
BlockBeats previously reported that The Clearing Company was founded by former Polymarket and Kalshi employees, and announced in August this year that it had completed a $15 million seed round. This round of financing was led by Union Square Ventures, with participation from Haun Ventures, Variant, Coinbase Ventures, Compound, among others. According to the company's website, The Clearing Company's CEO Toni Gemayel previously served as the growth lead at Polymarket and Kalshi, and other employees of this startup include individuals who have also worked at Polymarket.
