Federal Reserve Harker: More Concerned About Stubbornly High Inflation, Inclined to Keep Rates Steady Through Spring
BlockBeats News, December 21, Federal Reserve's Harker stated that after consecutive rate cuts in the past three meetings, there is no need to adjust rates in the coming months. Harker opposed the recent rate cuts because she is more concerned about stubbornly high inflation rather than potential labor market fragility. Harker was not a voting member of the Federal Open Market Committee this year, but she will be a voting member next year.
「My baseline expectation is that we can hold the rate at the current level for some time, at least through the spring. Until we get clearer evidence that either inflation is moving down toward the target or there is more substantive softening in the job market,」 she said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal's Take On the Week podcast on Thursday.
