Eric Connor has proposed ERC-8391, a standard for an asset-state interface for tokenized stocks and real-world asset tokenization. Connor stated that tokenized stocks can trade on-chain 24 hours a day, while the New York Stock Exchange operates for only 32.5 hours a week. He highlighted the challenge for smart contracts in determining whether a price has not been updated due to market closure, a halted price feed, or significant events like corporate acquisitions. ERC-8391 aims to convey market conditions that are not easily identifiable through price data alone. The proposal would enable smart contracts to assess the market's current phase, check if trading has been halted, validate valuation data, and determine redemption timelines. Additionally, the structure would utilize oracles to deliver state information.
