France: 2 million property owners exposed by a leak at the DGFiP

A new data leak has been claimed by a hacker named ZeroBytes, targeting the Professional Land Data Server (SPDC) of the DGFiP. This intrusion allowed the extraction of 252,149 lines of data, potentially representing 2,041,778 individuals. The compromised information includes names, surnames, gender, date and place of birth, address, land identification number, as well as sections and parcel numbers. This data can be used for fraud, identity theft, and phishing campaigns. ZeroBytes also mentioned that up to 20 million people could be accessible through the system, although this figure is an unverified estimate. The security of the DGFiP systems is now in question, and investigations are needed to determine the extent of access and the links between the two intrusions that occurred within two days. Property owners are warned to remain vigilant against phishing risks and not to share personal or banking information.
