Kraken Announces Plans to Integrate Tokenized Stocks and Visa Card into Self-Custody Wallet
Kraken has announced plans to integrate tokenized stocks, stablecoin payments, non-custodial Visa cards, and a Layer 2 ecosystem through its self-custody wallet. According to the 'Kraken Wallet Manifesto', the target audience is experienced cryptocurrency users, aiming to enhance the on-chain utility of assets while maintaining self-custody and account choice. The wallet will support EOA, EIP-7702 smart accounts, embedded wallets, hardware signers, and multi-signatures, allowing users to distribute funds across multiple accounts based on their risk levels. Kraken also plans to introduce a multi-signature method that combines account security and signature structure. The product integration will include xStocks, stablecoins, fiat deposits and withdrawals, non-custodial Visa cards, K-Assets, and the Ink ecosystem protocol. Kraken's wallet strategy aims to utilize the self-custody wallet as a tool for experienced users by integrating exchange, wallet, tokenized assets, and fiat deposit and withdrawal functions, thereby expanding the scope of payments and on-chain utility. If this plan is implemented into actual services, the wallet will serve as a connection point between exchange accounts, on-chain assets, and payment functionalities.
