Military Adds Over 1,700 New Orthophoto Plans to Delta System
In July 2026, the military increased the volume of geospatial data in the Delta combat system by adding over 1,700 new orthophoto plans. The scaling of the digital map allows the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to obtain detailed data for operation planning, target identification, and damage assessment. Delta integrates satellite images, orthophoto plans, and 3D terrain models, covering the territory of Ukraine, including temporarily occupied territories and Crimea. Orthophoto plans are created using reconnaissance drones, enabling detailed examination of areas and detection of changes that are difficult to see in satellite images. The 3D models take into account the terrain and height of objects, which are used in planning the routes of ground robotic complexes. Current images are used for terrain analysis before operations, object detection, assessment of strike results, and planning movements. The system also reports new images of selected areas, allowing for tracking changes in the area of interest. The Ministry of Defense noted that the increase in the number of orthophoto plans and 3D models makes more relevant data available to other users of the system. The next stage includes scaling this direction and increasing geospatial data in Delta.
