OpenAI reported $6.7 billion in revenue for the second quarter, an 18% increase from $5.7 billion in the first quarter. At the same time, the company's operating profit margin declined, and losses widened. Some investors expressed disappointment with these results, primarily due to OpenAI's revenue growth lagging behind its competitor Anthropic, which reported over $11.5 billion in revenue for the second quarter and achieved a small operating profit for the first time. Meanwhile, OpenAI is preparing for its initial public offering (IPO).
