RoboStore has established a new corporation, Robo Inc., and is transitioning to robot manufacturing and integration in the United States. This move follows the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adding foreign advanced robotic equipment to its covered list. In a press release on August 10, RoboStore announced plans to open a 66,000 square feet facility in Long Island, New York, and aims to begin production of localized robotic solutions in the U.S. starting in the first quarter of 2027. RoboStore is the official U.S. distributor for Unitree Robotics, and this transition represents an expansion from distribution to U.S.-based assembly, software, and system integration. The FCC added foreign advanced robotic equipment and power inverters to the covered list on July 28, which could reduce restrictions on new certifications and sales procedures in the U.S. Robo has sold over 1,500 humanoid and quadruped robots to more than 4,500 customers. This action indicates that U.S. security regulations are expanding from telecommunications equipment to robots and power equipment. Industry reactions are mixed, with some expressing concerns that the new regulations may pressure U.S. robotics companies.
