Sono Group N.V. has terminated its solar business and shifted to a Bitcoin (BTC) financial strategy, but as of June 30, it only has $166,000 in cash. The company invested $5 million in BTC purchases, with a book value of BTC reported at $4.118 million. Sono Group has decided to cease funding its subsidiary, Sono Motors, and to withdraw immediately from its existing solar business. The board cited past profitability issues and the burden of losses as reasons for the withdrawal. The transition process was completed in May, and Sono Group has defined itself as a digital asset financial company, planning to generate revenue through BTC purchases and a covered call strategy. However, concerns have been raised about its ability to continue as a going concern due to a lack of liquidity. In the first half of the year, Sono Group generated a net option income of $93,000 from its covered call strategy, but this amount may be insufficient to cover all obligations. The company has also left open the possibility of selling some BTC if additional funding becomes blocked.
