Stock-based perpetual futures trading volume reaches $15.76 billion, down 32.1% in a day
The trading volume of stock-based perpetual futures was recorded at $15.76 billion on August 27. This figure represents a 32.1% decrease compared to the previous trading day, with trading concentrated on certain exchanges and assets. The combined trading volume of stock-based perpetual futures across ten cryptocurrency exchanges decreased compared to August 26, with the average trading volume over the last five trading days being $21.59 billion. By exchange, Binance accounted for $9.27 billion, or 58.6% of the total, while Hyperliquid recorded $2.28 billion, representing 14.5%. The combined share of these two exchanges was 73.1%. By asset, Sandisk accounted for $4.63 billion, or 29.5% of the total trading volume, while Micron and SpaceX recorded $1.68 billion and $1.28 billion, respectively. The combined trading volume of these three assets accounted for 48.3%. Stock-based perpetual futures are derivatives that provide exposure to stock-related prices on cryptocurrency exchanges, and changes in trading volume do not directly reflect the spot trading volume or changes in corporate value of the underlying stocks. Exchanges are increasing derivatives based on traditional financial assets, and perpetual futures are derivatives traded without an expiration date. This report confirms the decrease in trading volume and concentration.
