The White House Prepares Tariffs Backup Plan Ahead of Court Ruling
BlockBeats News, November 22, as the U.S. Supreme Court may overturn a key tariff authority, it is reported that the Trump administration is secretly preparing contingency plans to quickly reinstate tariff measures.
According to U.S. officials familiar with the matter, the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative have been studying alternative options in case of a possible loss in the lawsuit, including initiating tariffs under Section 301 and Section 122 of the Trade Act—both of which grant the president the unilateral authority to impose tariffs.
