Trial for the Death of Diego Maradona, Nurse Ricardo Almirón Testifies
In the second trial regarding the death of Diego Maradona, nurse Ricardo Almirón will testify for the first time. Almirón, hired by Medidom for Maradona's home treatment from November 11 to 25, 2020, is accused of being responsible for the former footballer's death. The prosecution claims that Almirón failed to maintain proper nursing records regarding Maradona's health status. His lawyer, Franco Chiarelli, stated that Almirón will not answer questions from the parties involved, only from his defense, and will present a chronological account of his work on the last day of the athlete's life, the night of November 24 to 25, 2020. This will be the third time Almirón attends the San Isidro Courts. During the trial, evidence of Maradona's deterioration before his death has been presented, with testimonies indicating that he ate very little, suffered from urinary incontinence, and spent much of his time in bed. Maradona passed away on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60, due to a cardiac arrest associated with pulmonary edema.
