Federal Reserve mouthpiece Nick Timiraos stated that Trump's contact with Waller has been sporadic, with several calls within a few days followed by long periods of no contact. Trump has consulted Waller on a range of issues, including the Iran war and the impact of artificial intelligence on the economy. U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen previously mentioned that one highlight of Waller's tenure at the Federal Reserve is observing those stenographers disguised as reporters, like Nick Timiraos, who can only report on the Fed's behind-the-scenes gossip due to a lack of information sources, and are unable to conduct in-depth economic or monetary policy analysis.
