UkrOboronProm Announces Competition for New CEO
The Supervisory Board of the joint-stock company "UkrOboronProm" has launched an open competition for the position of General Director. The selection of candidates will be conducted by the Ukrainian representative office of the international company Amrop Partnership, chosen as a result of an open procurement procedure. The search for candidates began on September 1. On July 14, Herman Smetanin completed his tenure as General Director of "UkrOboronProm". The reasons for his dismissal have not been explained; however, the company previously dismissed the heads of two state enterprises following the shelling of Vyshneve in the Kyiv region due to violations of ammunition storage regulations. On July 6, Russian troops struck the Kyiv region, including Vyshneve, leading to the evacuation of over 600 people. As a result of the explosions, nine people were killed, and dozens were injured. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that all officials involved in the incident would be held accountable, noting that the weapon storage facilities were located among residential buildings, which is prohibited by law. The strike damaged 280 residential buildings, including 253 private homes and 27 apartment buildings. Following Smetanin's dismissal, Sergey Boyev is temporarily fulfilling the duties of General Director.
