Zelensky Awards Elon Musk the Order of Freedom

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has awarded Elon Musk the Order of Freedom for his outstanding contributions to protecting human life and freedom, as well as for fostering relations between Ukraine and the United States. Musk, the owner of SpaceX and Tesla, has not yet commented on the award. In early 2026, he agreed to limit the use of Starlink terminals by Russians at the request of Ukrainian authorities. This decision followed a report from the Institute for the Study of War, which indicated that Starlink was being used by Russian troops for drones. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski urged Musk to stop this, to which the billionaire responded by calling him an 'imbecile.' Musk also stated that measures to disable Starlink on Russian drones were effective, and a verification system was implemented in Ukraine to block the enemy's use of terminals. However, Musk continues to deny Kyiv the expansion of Starlink for strikes against Russia due to concerns over nuclear escalation.
