ADATA Technology Plans Electronic Components Plant in Paraguay
ADATA Technology, a Taiwanese manufacturer of memory and storage modules, is considering establishing a plant in Paraguay to assemble DRAM memory and SSD units. The plant will operate under the Maquila regime, which exempts the import of inputs from tariffs. The goal is to supply markets in Latin America, the United States, and Canada. ADATA executives met with Paraguayan authorities to discuss the feasibility of the investment. Felipe Masselli, vice president of ADATA, mentioned that spaces in Minga Guazú, Alto Paraná, are being evaluated. The plan includes the use of automated surface mount technology to process essential components for global technological infrastructure. Paraguay stands out for its cost structure, logistical advantages, and clean energy, especially the hydroelectric power from Itaipú, which offers competitive rates. This attractive energy has also positioned the country as a destination for Bitcoin mining. The installation of this infrastructure will allow computer components to be labeled as Made in Paraguay, consolidating the region as a key technological hub for the Americas and improving the hardware supply chain.
