The future missile defense system Freyja may receive the interceptor FP-7.X, which will cost up to 1 million euros, 66% cheaper than the PAC-3 MSE for Patriot, which is expected to cost around 3.33 million dollars in 2026. However, even successful tests of the FP-7.X will not allow for a quick replacement of the American system. The estimated price of the FP-7.X does not include additional costs for radars, launchers, and technical support. Patriot is already a serial system with a well-established infrastructure and combat interceptors. Freyja currently only has a missile that has undergone initial testing and preliminary agreements with European manufacturers. The first test of the FP-7.X is scheduled for July 2027. Freyja will be an addition to Patriot, not a replacement, as confirmed by the joint declaration of the participants in the anti-ballistic coalition. Ukraine will continue to rely on Patriot and PAC-3 stocks, needing about 300 interceptors by winter.
