The well-known Ukrainian confectionery manufacturer "Kyiv BKK" has increased its export share in production to 9% since the beginning of the full-scale war. By 2022, this segment accounted for only about 1.5%. The company is also constructing a new factory worth over 200 million UAH, which will increase its capacity by 140 tons per month.
This was reported to Delo.ua by the chair of the supervisory board of the company, Yulia Yarmolenko.
"Currently, the export segment already occupies 9% of our production, and its development is only accelerating. There is further growth in export turnover: +65% in 2025, and the upward trend continues," noted Yarmolenko.
Overall, the Ukrainian confectionery sector shows high dynamics on the international stage. In the first nine months of 2025, domestic producers exported 214 thousand tons of products worth $660 million, which is 17.6% more in volume and 29.2% more in monetary terms compared to the same period in 2024.
Among the key exporters of sweets (in particular, chocolate, cookies, and wafers) are traditional market giants such as Roshen, "AVK", Konti, "Mondelez Ukraine", and "Kharkiv Biscuit Factory". At the same time, in the narrower segment of cream confectionery, cakes, and pastries, BKK faces active competition from Roshen, Confectionery House "Vatsak", "Luchitsky", as well as numerous regional and local producers.
According to the head of the supervisory board, BKK has deepened cooperation with existing clients and attracted new ones, noting significant growth in exports to Germany, Poland, the USA, and Israel. Despite the complexities of overseas logistics, the company has managed to establish uninterrupted supplies to North America.
"We have entered regular sales in the USA, entered a major retail chain in Canada, and are currently in the final stages of negotiations with a new distributor in Canada, which will cover another part of the country where we were previously not represented," emphasized Yarmolenko.
The company notes that although products are produced for some clients under their own brands, the lion's share of exports is sold under the native brand "BKK". At the same time, the manufacturer is successfully moving from purely "ethnic shelves" for the diaspora to the general European retail.
"Entering the local retail market is not a quick process. We have already done this in some countries - in particular, Moldova, Canada, and Israel. In Germany, we can now be purchased at the Rewe chain in Munich. The next targets are major chains in Germany, Poland, and Romania," shared the head of the supervisory board.
To meet the growing demand both domestically and abroad, the company is expanding its production base.
"The launch of the new production is scheduled for the third quarter of this year. The project budget is over 200 million UAH. In fact, this is the launch of new production next to the existing one. We expect an increase in sales volumes both in the domestic market and for export. The company plans to recoup investments in 5 years," Yarmolenko reported.
She added that the new site is planned to produce éclairs and other cream pastries with various fillings, and subsequently other types of desserts. Thanks to the expansion of the site and the reorganization of existing lines, the total production capacity of the enterprise will increase by 140 tons per month.
After a decline of 30% in 2022 due to the start of the full-scale invasion, BKK demonstrates stable positive dynamics: in 2023, income grew by 32%, in 2024 - by another 13%, and in 2025, it increased by 21%. In the first quarter of 2026, the figure already amounted to 381.87 million UAH.
The main reasons for growth in the company are attributed to the development of the export segment and optimization of the product range.
"Kyiv BKK" estimates its share in the category of cream confectionery in Ukraine at 20% in natural terms, which is 3.3% more compared to the pre-war 2021.
