Jennifer Tilly has managed to amass a fortune of millions of dollars through her work in television and film. Known for her memorable Oscar nomination, much of her earnings are tied to her performances, although there is a rather peculiar income that not many know about.
Without having participated directly, she earns nearly $10 million thanks to "The Simpsons". She did not lend her voice to a recognized character nor is she part of the production of the episodes, which is due to an agreement with one of the creators, Sam Simon.

Jennifer Tilly began her acting career in the early 1980s, with appearances in television series and films. During her early years, she appeared in productions such as "Hill Street Blues," "Remington Steele," "Cheers," and "Moonlighting," in addition to taking roles in films like "The Fabulous Baker Boys" and "Let It Ride."
Her recognition increased in 1994 with "Bullets Over Broadway," the film directed by Woody Allen in which she played Olive Neal. The role earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Two years later, she starred in "Bound" alongside Gina Gershon, in a film directed by the Wachowski sisters.
In 1998, she portrayed Tiffany Valentine in "Bride of Chucky," a character she reprised in several films of the franchise and, years later, in the series "Chucky." She also voiced Celia Mae in "Monsters, Inc." and Bonnie Swanson in "Family Guy," a role she has maintained since 1999.
Acting was not her only professional activity. Tilly also competed in poker tournaments and won a bracelet at the World Series of Poker in 2005, with a prize of $158,625.

Jennifer Tilly and Sam Simon married in 1984 and remained together for seven years. Five years later, while they were still married, the writer and producer created "The Simpsons" along with Matt Groening and James L. Brooks. The couple separated in 1991, and the divorce was finalized in 1993.
The agreement signed at that time granted Tilly 30% of the net income corresponding to her ex-husband's financial participation in the series. It was not about the entire production, but rather a portion of the income generated by the rights that the creator retained after leaving his direct creative involvement.
Simon left in 1993 after differences with Groening, but he retained his position as executive producer and his economic rights. As the series expanded its distribution and added new sources of income, the value of that participation increased. In the last years of his life, he received between $20 million and $30 million annually from the income related to the production.
The 30% that belonged to Tilly represented between $6 million and $10 million per year. After the divorce, they maintained a close relationship, and the actress constantly supported her ex-husband during his illness. In 2015, Simon died at the age of 59 from colorectal cancer.
Until that moment, payments were channeled through Coconino Inc., Sam's production company. After his death, a new agreement allowed her to receive her share directly from Fox. Thus, the mechanism established during the divorce continued to be in effect.
