Taiwanese power semiconductor companies are considering a 10-15% price increase for non-contract products starting in October. If this increase materializes, it is expected to reaffirm the trend of price adjustments in the power semiconductor market this year. According to the Taiwan Economic Daily, Taiwanese power semiconductor firms are preparing for a third round of price adjustments, and there are also discussions about the potential for improved volumes and prices from local companies such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Panjit, and Dioz in the second half of the year. Power semiconductors are used to control current and voltage in applications such as server power supplies, automotive electronics, and industrial equipment. The demand for power conversion and protection components is also rising due to the increase in artificial intelligence servers and data centers. This discussion on price adjustments is not sudden; in March, Panjit, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, and Dioz resumed price negotiations with customers, and it was reported that prices for some products could increase by 20%. Since June, Chinese and global companies have also continued to adjust their prices, with Chinese power semiconductor firms adjusting prices for some products starting July 1. The mention of non-contract products by Taiwanese companies first indicates that the scope of price adjustments may be selectively determined. However, the actual extent of the increase and the applicable product categories will be confirmed through company announcements or performance reports.
