Tesla plans to publicly unveil its two-seater robo-taxi, the "Cybercab," which lacks a steering wheel and brake pedal, as early as this month. The official launch target is set for the end of August, but the schedule may change. The Cybercab is designed for autonomous ride-hailing services, meaning passengers cannot drive it themselves. Tesla has remote operators who can monitor the vehicle and take control in emergency situations. The initial launch area is likely to be Austin, Texas, where test drives and road trials for employees have been conducted in recent weeks. Tesla has been testing the Cybercab in Austin since June, and feedback procedures for employees began in July. Unlike the existing Model Y, the Cybercab is a dedicated vehicle designed from the ground up without driving controls. Elon Musk mentioned that specific driving data for the Cybercab needs to be accumulated before deploying the vehicles in large numbers on the roads. The timing of the Cybercab's unveiling and whether it will carry paying passengers will be confirmed in further announcements.
