Centrifuge has released a governance proposal exploring the conversion of CFG into company equity. The proposal aims to allow eligible CFG holders to exchange their tokens for company equity at a 1:1 ratio, with some holders participating through a trust structure. Centrifuge stated that the CFG token was initially designed for the early development of the project, and the current business has shifted focus to institutional infrastructure. The existing token structure presents limitations in terms of institutional participation, partner expansion, financing, and compliance. The proposal must receive board approval, pass governance voting, and complete legal framework adjustments before implementation. Holders who do not participate in the conversion can continue to hold or sell their CFG tokens, with specific conversion timelines and eligibility criteria to be announced later. The proposal is currently in a 14-day consultation phase, and no final decision has been made yet.
