How to Trade NVDA, AAPL, and Gold Without a Brokerage Account
For most of the world, the process of buying a share of NVIDIA or an ounce of gold has never been fuss-free. It requires a brokerage account, a fiat bank transfer, identity verification across multiple platforms, and in many markets — geographic eligibility that simply excludes you.
For crypto-native traders across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, the friction has historically been high enough to deter many potential investors.
That's changing. A category of crypto exchange product — TradFi perpetuals — now lets traders access real-world assets like US stocks, gold, silver, and crude oil directly from a USDT account. Same assets. Same price exposure. No broker required.
But access is only half the story. The other half is trust. Trading real-world assets on crypto rails is only as reliable as the infrastructure securing the USDT underneath it — and that infrastructure matters more than most traders think.
What Are TradFi Perpetuals?
TradFi perpetuals are derivative contracts that track the price of traditional financial assets — think NVIDIA (NVDA), Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), gold, or crude oil — and settle entirely in USDT. They work the same way as the crypto perpetual futures traders are already familiar with: no expiry date, no physical delivery, and a funding rate mechanism that keeps the contract price anchored to the underlying asset.
The key difference is what's being tracked. Instead of BTC or ETH, the underlying is a real-world asset priced on traditional markets.
On WEEX, this product is called WEEX TradFi — covering a growing list of assets across US and Hong Kong stocks, precious metals, and energy commodities. And the engine running underneath all of it is stablecoin custody — because every dollar of margin in this system is USDT, and that USDT has to live somewhere secure.
Why This Matters for Traders Outside the West
Access to US equities and commodities is uneven by design. Traditional brokerages are built around fiat infrastructure — bank accounts, wire transfers, regulated custody — that isn't universally available. A trader in Vietnam, Nigeria, or Kazakhstan who wants exposure to NVIDIA's earnings cycle or gold as an inflation hedge has very few clean options.
USDT changes that equation. Because USDT is borderless and already held by hundreds of millions of crypto users globally, it can serve as the margin and settlement currency for assets that were previously out of reach. You don't need a Charles Schwab account. You don't need to wire dollars internationally. If you hold USDT, you can trade NVDA.
And when that USDT is secured by institutional-grade custody infrastructure — the kind that companies like Cobo provide to exchanges managing digital assets at scale — the trust gap between crypto rails and traditional finance narrows significantly. The borderless access that USDT enables is only meaningful when the custody layer underneath it is airtight.
This is what makes WEEX TradFi genuinely interesting — not just the leverage or 24/7 access, but the democratization of real-world asset exposure using infrastructure that already exists in users' hands.
What Can You Actually Trade on WEEX TradFi?
WEEX TradFi currently supports:
US & HK Stocks: NVDA, AAPL, MSFT, Circle (CRCL), Costco (COST), Lenovo, Anta, Akeso, and more — with the list expanding regularly
Precious Metals: Gold (XAUT, PAXG), Silver (XAG) — with up to 400x leverage on gold futures
Energy & Commodities: Crude oil (WTI), Copper (XCU)
All contracts are perpetual, all margin is in USDT, and settlement is on-chain. There's no separate TradFi account — traders use the same USDT balance they already hold on the platform.
The Custody Layer: Why It's the Foundation of TradFi on Crypto Rails
Here's the part that doesn't get talked about enough.
When you trade NVDA on a traditional brokerage, your cash sits in a regulated bank account, insured and governed by decades of financial infrastructure. When you trade NVDA on a crypto exchange using USDT, that USDT needs to be secured somewhere. And the standards for how it's secured — the wallet architecture, the access controls, the risk management protocols — determine whether the whole model is trustworthy at scale.
This is not a trivial problem. Exchanges running TradFi products are custodying large pools of stablecoin on behalf of their users, and the security infrastructure underneath it is what separates a platform worth trusting from one that isn't.
The two models worth understanding:
Custodial wallets — here, a specialist third-party custody provider secures assets on the exchange's behalf. Rather than building and maintaining security infrastructure in-house, the exchange delegates that responsibility to a provider purpose-built for it. This model concentrates security expertise where it belongs: with a dedicated custodian that lives and breathes digital asset security, operates under regulatory oversight, and carries the institutional credibility that retail-focused exchange teams rarely match. For users, it means their USDT margin is secured by infrastructure that was designed for exactly this purpose — not bolted on as an afterthought.
MPC (Multi-Party Computation) wallets — the most advanced custody architecture available today. Private keys are never held in one place; instead, signing authority is distributed across multiple independent parties using threshold signature schemes. This eliminates the single point of failure that has historically made centralized custody vulnerable. Even if one party is compromised, funds cannot be moved. It's the institutional standard for securing stablecoin at scale, and increasingly the benchmark against which other custody models are measured.
Beyond the wallet architecture itself, best-in-class custody also includes:
On-chain risk controls — transaction limits, whitelist-only withdrawals, and real-time anomaly detection that govern how funds move even if credentials are compromised
Segregated user funds — exchange operational funds kept strictly separate from user assets, with on-chain auditability and verifiable proof of reserves
Institutional key management — hardware security modules (HSMs), tiered approval workflows, and disaster recovery that doesn't rely on any single administrator
Cobo, one of the leading digital asset custody and wallet infrastructure providers in Asia, offers both custodial and MPC wallet solutions to exchanges and institutional clients — backed by SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications, and a zero-incident track record since 2017.
The implication for traders is direct: the exchange you choose to trade TradFi assets on is only as safe as the custody infrastructure underneath it. As TradFi perpetuals grow in volume and legitimacy, custody standards will increasingly become a key differentiator between platforms.
A New On-Ramp to Global Markets
TradFi perpetuals aren't a replacement for traditional investing. They're a parallel on-ramp — one built for users who are already in the crypto ecosystem and want exposure to real-world assets without stepping outside it.
For traders who already hold USDT, already understand perpetual futures, and want to express a view on gold prices or the next NVIDIA earnings report, WEEX TradFi removes the last friction point: the need for a separate brokerage account.
The assets are real. The price exposure is real. The settlement currency just happens to be a stablecoin — and when the custody infrastructure securing it is built to institutional standards, the gap between crypto-native trading and traditional finance becomes very small indeed.
